"I believe in general in a dualism between facts and the ideas of those facts in human heads."
George Santayana Located on a site having both face exposed to public, the facade has become essential for the newly designed building. One side facing the street and the other facing the sea, each having their own specific & different viewers. From the sea, it is visible to those accessing the city via ships towards the port located right across the building on the other side of the bay. From the street, the other side of the facade is viewable by both pedestrian and those accessing via the street, the main access of the building "In nature we never see anything isolated, but everything in connection with something else which is before it, beside it, under it and over it."
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe _ A design proposal for a state owned bank located by the bay of the city Jayapura with a unique connecting feature with the existing old one. Both buildings are linked with a sky bridge on mid-level so that activities of the users in both old and new buildings can still be performed fluidly. "Nature is my manifestation of God. I go to nature every day for inspiration in the day's work. I follow in building the principles which nature has used in its domain."
Frank Lloyd Wright A design proposal for a state owned bank located by the bay of the city Jayapura with a unique connecting feature with the existing old one. Taking inspiration from natural and cultural context on which the new building is located, the newly designed building would be an extension to the existing one located right next to it. Inspiration from nature is taken from the water element, as a response to its location by the sea. Cool tones are selected to represent the character of the element which happen to be inline with the company's corporate color. Inspiration from local culture is taken from the pattern of Asmat Tribe commonly found on their wood bark painting using monochromatic colors with a red accent. These colors and pattern are adopted as the facade elements of the building. |
